The first step is choosing a wedding venue that blends the natural environment with modern amenities. Your wedding venue sets the scene for your wedding day and becomes an integral part of your day. For couples who want to incorporate their adventurous side, here is a list of outdoor wedding venues in Ontario that are the perfect mix of nature and romance.
What to look for in your outdoor wedding venue in Ontario
Before we get into the list of outdoor wedding venues in Ontario, here are a couple of things to keep in mind when looking at venues:
Location and Scenery
You’ll want to consider the surrounding area of your venue. Does it have the vibe you’re going for (beach, or forest or lake, for example.) The ceremony space and surrounding area become part of your wedding decor and a backdrop for your wedding photos.
The location is going to be your overall vibe for your wedding day and will set the tone for your guest experience.
Consider if your location is nearby other places, like hiking trails or lookouts that you want to incorporate into your wedding day.
Accessibility and Logistics
When you’re looking at outdoor wedding venues in Ontario, don’t forget to consider your guest list. Ask yourself, how easy is this venue to access? Is it far from accommodations? Is there enough parking? Are there shuttles available?
When it comes to the actual space, is it friendly to those who have mobility issues, like grandparents?
You’ll want your guests to enjoy your wedding as much as you do, so keep these questions in mind when touring outdoor venues.
Minimum and Maximum Capacity
Most wedding venues have a maximum capacity, which can depend on the space you’re using at the venue. But some have minimum capacity too, which is the smallest group that the space can accommodate.
Knowing a rough estimate of your guest list will help you decide what venue to book. Think too about what the space will look like with your number of guests - will it feel too large for an intimate wedding, or will it feel too tight for a larger wedding.
Facilities and Amenities
You’ll want to check to see if the facility has access to essentials like bathrooms, kitchens, power, etc. I had a wedding held in a gorgeous place but had no access to power. The couple brought in a caterer who didn’t need power to cook (They were using a smoker and their own power supply) and brought in generators to run bathrooms and lights.
But keep this in mind, because this will impact the types of vendors you bring in for your wedding day.
Check into other on-site amenities like accommodations and bridal suites, as this will also impact other locations you may need to use during the day.
For example, maybe the space you want to tie the knot doesn’t have a reception space, you’ll then have to rent another area for your reception. Or if the space you love doesn’t have a getting-ready location, you’ll have to look in the area for a hotel or Airbnb for that portion of your day.
Weather and Seasonal Considerations
Ask the venue operators about a rain plan. Weather in Ontario is crazy. I’ve had more rainy wedding in 2024 than any other year, and only half of those had a proper plan for bad weather. It’s honestly better to have a rain plan and not need it, then need it and not have one.
Especially when outdoor wedding venues are at the mercy of mother nature. That back up plan may mean using umbrellas, using a tent, or even moving the ceremony into another space.
Venue Vibe and Personal Connection
The first step in deciding where to get married is sitting down with your partner and dreaming big. Ask yourself lots of questions, like “If you close your eyes and picture standing up with me during the ceremony, what does it look like around you - describe the setting, the feeling and what the day looks like.”
Does the venue align with your personalities? Does it feel special and meaningful? Does it create an atmosphere that reflects you?
There are honestly so many places you can get married at - all you gotta do is ask! You can get married in a provincial park, national park, a cottage, at a greenhouse, at a library, in a public park, at the beach, at a ski resort, at a summer camp - the list is endless!!
What matters most, is sitting down with your partner and asking those big questions to find out what you both really want out of your wedding day.

The reception space for larger weddings takes place in Glen Oro’s new reception hall, a semi-clear tent with natural wood accents.
What makes this place really unique are the dome tents that are available for use for you or your guests. These domes have clear rooftops, so you can fall asleep gazing at the stars.

Okay, to say I’m excited about this brand new venue in Georgian Bay is an understatement. The folks at The Glasshouse are amazing. They’ve built a beautiful brick and glass structure that will be perfect no matter the weather!
The property is stunning with a lake, willow trees, pine trees, and gardens to explore. There’s a 150+ year old farmhouse that has been updated with modern amenities and an old barn that will be perfect for getting ready. They have plans to put in a commercial kitchen in the future too!
The venue isn’t quite ready for bookings, but they should be very soon!

Limberlost Forest is a cousin to Algonquin Provincial Park. they have several lodges and lots of camping spaces for accommodations. They don’t have a dedicated hall for weddings, but if your wedding is small enough, there’s more than enough room to host the event at one of the lodges.
Each of the lodges has a gorgeous outdoor space that are perfect for your ceremony, and the park has plenty of trails for when you want to hike up to your favourite lookout for photos.
