Killarney Lodge is an unforgettable backdrop for those looking to elope within Algonquin Provincial Park. Imagine exchanging vows surrounded by towering pines, sharing quiet moments by the lake, and exploring the endless trails of Ontario’s oldest provincial park. For couples seeking a deeply intimate and adventure-filled experience, there’s nothing quite like celebrating your love in this untouched wilderness.
About Killarney Lodge
Killarney Lodge is something special. This wilderness resort has been running since 1935 and has a prime spot on Lake of Two Rivers. The lodge boasts 31 cabins, including one bedroom, two bedrooms and the luxurious three-bedroom Crowe Cottage.
Cabin rentals come with prime lakefront views, have access to canoes and kayaks, and they feed you three meals a day! They’ll even pack you a lunch-to-go explore the trails in Algonquin Provincial Park.
This elopement styled shoot was so inspiring to be a part of and I'm stoked for couples who want to bring this sort of adventure to their elopement day!
Getting ready
Killarney Lodge’s rustic cabins are the perfect place to get ready for your full day Algonquin Elopement. Whether you choose a one bedroom, two bedroom or Crow Cottage, there’s plenty of space for the two of you to get ready.
Heck, start your morning with a dip in the lake, or with a relaxing coffee on the porch listening to the loons.
Once it’s time to get all dressed up, you’ll have the whole cabin to use for details, getting dressed and putting together all those final touches to your wedding attire.
First Look
Since Killarney Lodge cabins are right on the water, I recommend doing your first look right there on the shoreline. That way you have the quintessential Algonquin backdrop for when you guys get to check each other out in all your wedding attire.
The perfect part about this, is that the cabins, while close, still feel very secluded from each other, so you’ll have plenty of privacy for this emotional moment.
Ceremony
Algonquin offers plenty of natural settings for your ceremony. You can hike up one of the many trails. I’ve done elopements at the Lookout Trail and Track and Tower Trail. The important thing to note about these places is that they are popular (for good reason!). So if you want to have more privacy for your ceremony there are a few options for you:
- Pick a weekday for your elopement
- Pick a less popular area of the park. (Barron Canyon anyone?!)
- Do a sunrise ceremony
- Have your ceremony at a campsite (This was perfect for an elopement at Samuel De Champlain Provincial Park)
- Have your ceremony at your Cabin at Killarney Lodge!
For this shoot, we had a lovely ceremony at the Crowe Cottage, which offered even more seclusion from the other cabins. We have our own private dock and views of the lovely Lake of Two Rivers.
No matter where you choose for your ceremony, Algonquin provides a stunning backdrop with just the sounds of nature as your background music.
Dining
Because Killarney Lodge offers three meals a day, it’s so easy to incorporate that into your elopement. For this elopement shoot, we had a special table dressed up just for the occasion, and even a tiny wedding cake just for the two lovebirds.
Activities
Algonquin Provincial Park offers so many awesome activities that you can add to an elopement day - from a hike on one of the many trails to paddling on one of the many lakes.
Depending on your activity level, we could hike up to a viewpoint, wedding attire and all. Or we could hop in a canoe and ride over to a private island for some photos.
We could spend sunset on the dock, enjoying the romantic and relaxed vibe of a warm summer evening. You could splash your feet in the water, or even jump right into the lake like Jess and Brandon did!
Campfire and Stargazing
End your elopement day sitting by the campfire, making s’mores, enjoying a local brew, and sharing stories.
It was a little too cloudy for us on this day, but if the weather is right, head back out on the dock for some stargazing, since Algonquin has some of the darkest skies in Ontario.
A full-day elopement at Killarney Lodge in Algonquin Park is more than just a wedding day—it’s an experience that captures the essence of two adventurous people wanting to tie the knot! From quiet lakeside moments to heartfelt vows beneath the trees, every part of the day felt deeply meaningful, allowing the couple to focus solely on each other and the journey they’re embarking on together.
If you’re envisioning an elopement that’s filled with authentic moments, breathtaking scenery, and a sense of wonder, Killarney Lodge offers the perfect setting. Let nature be your witness, and let your love story unfold in the most romantic way possible.
