Last summer, I had the pleasure of photographing Jake and Jackie’s wedding at the brand-new Highland Estates in Grey County.

Sometimes, you meet a couple that just blows you away. For me, that is Jackie and Jake. These two have overcome so many hardships in their lives, but, through it all, have found their rock in each other.

I am quick to cry at beautiful and emotional moments of your day, but Jake and Jackie had me reduced to silent sobs throughout their day. Why? Because I have never felt so surrounded by such fierce and resolute love.

With permission, I’ll share that with the loss of a matriarch and Jake’s medical diagnosis, these two have faced incredible adversities together. However, you can tell that these two are surrounded by people who love them dearly.

They had a 21-person wedding party. Yup, 21 people. Because that’s how many people mean the world to them.

During the ceremony and reception, guests heard from brothers, family members and friends, all with heartfelt (and very humourous) tales of how they see the couple. There were tears of compassion and huge belly laughs.

Highland Estates wedding venue

This countryside venue is one of the newest wedding venues in South Georgian Bay. This private venue boasts modern-style accommodations for getting ready, two areas for your ceremony and reception, and acres of forested trails.

I was so honoured to shoot the second wedding at this location and loved the gorgeous scenery along with the spacious venue, which would be perfect for a large wedding but intimate enough for a smaller guest list.
