A September Wedding Filled with Love, Laughter and a Chocolate Bar

There’s something magical about September weddings - the crisp air, the golden light and a sense of calm that perfectly mirrors the union of two people who have found something special in each other. This September wedding was no exception, unfolding in the rustic beauty of Spring Creek Gavel Farm, where the couple’s love story came full circle in the most heartwarming and personal way.

The morning began with a relaxed vibe, the perfect start to what would be a joyful and intimate day. The groom prepared for the big day at a house nearby, surrounded by his closest friends. Meanwhile, the bride had the beauty of Spring Creek Gavel Farm’s attached farmhouse with her bridesmaids and mom.

“You were the boy I knew my whole life…”

Their ceremony took place at their homestead under a rustic wooden structure the groom had built himself. His craftsmanship added an extra layer of meaning to their vows, and the space felt intimate, surrounded by the rolling countryside they both cherished. As they exchanged their promises, one of the sweetest and most nostalgic moments unfolded. The groom, back in grade 2, had once tried to bribe the bride to be his girlfriend with a chocolate bar. Fast forward several years, and the bride found a perfect way to return the favour. She handed the groom a chocolate bar during their ceremony, a small, sweet gesture that had everyone grinning at the full-circle moment.

“Every thread of our relationship and out life together has been a perfect line out of a small town country song…”

After the ceremony, we decided to do some portraits of the two of them on their property then the celebration continued with a reception at Spring Creek Gavel Farm, with speeches, delicious food and dancing.

At sunset, we snuck out for a few minutes to capture T+J’s radiant connection as the sun dipped low in the sky.

A perfect way to include your animals

The couple’s love for animals was woven into the day from start to finish. Their oldest dog, always by their side, had a special role in the ceremony. With a sign around her neck reading, "He was mine first," she proudly trotted up the aisle and relaxed at the couple’s feet during the ceremony. It was clear that this day wasn’t just about the couple but about the life they’d built together on their farm with their beloved animals. We were even able to sneak in a few portraits with their horses!

The reception at Spring Creek Gavel Farm was filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt speeches. The wedding cake even had highland cow toppers, a playful tribute to the couple’s own herd. At the reception, they let the guests in on the secret that the bride was expecting!

As the night went on and the dancing begun, one talented soul ended up doing the worm!

With their animals by their side, surrounded by friends and family, it was a day that perfectly reflected the love and lightheartedness T+J bring to each other’s lives.
