When I think about Joel and MacKenzie’s wedding, the first thing that comes to mind is *electric*. From their vibe to the celebratory energy that filled every corner of the Broadview Hotel, their New Year’s Eve wedding was nothing short of unforgettable.

Joel and MacKenzie bonded over their love of music, and their wedding day felt like it was orchestrated with that same rhythm. The Broadview Hotel, situated in the heart of Toronto, provided the perfect urban backdrop for their day. The hotel has sleek interiors, rooftop views, and a fun edgy vibe - so fitting for a couple as effortlessly cool as these two.

A Rooftop First Look

The day began with Joel and MacKenzie getting ready in separate rooms at the hotel. As the December light started to fade, we headed up to the Broadview’s iconic rooftop for their first look. It was one of those moments that felt straight out of a movie—MacKenzie stepping onto the rooftop, Joel turning to see her, and both of them lighting up like the city skyline behind them.

With time slipping away before sunset, we moved back in doors to capture some portraits back in the hotel rooms. From Joel’s tailored suit to MacKenzie’s stunning gown, they looked like they belonged on the cover of a vintage record sleeve.

The ceremony took place in the Broadview’s Rooftop Event Space, just as the last light faded from the sky. The urban backdrop, paired with the soft glow of fading winter light, was pure magic. There was something so intimate about the moment, from the cozy atmosphere to the hum of excitement from their guests, and Joel and MacKenzie promising their forever under the twinkle of city lights.

Champagne, Snow and Downtown Nightscapes

After a delicious dinner in the Lincoln Hall reception space, we spent a little time in the Broadview’s bar area for some moodier, atmospheric shots. The warm glow of the space contrasted beautifully with the cool night outside, adding another layer of depth to their wedding gallery.

After Mackenzie changed into her reception dress, we couldn’t resist sneaking outside for some nighttime photos. Downtown Toronto was buzzing, and the streets felt alive with anticipation for the new year. And then, it started to snow. Big, fluffy snowflakes swirled around us, creating this dreamy, cinematic scene. Joel and MacKenzie were absolute troopers, laughing and running in the cold while we captured photos that felt like a winter fairytale with an urban twist.

Dancing into the New Year

Back in Lincoln Hall, the energy was electric. Joel and MacKenzie’s cake topper read “Till Death,” a cheeky nod to their killer vibe, and the vibe on the dance floor was just as bold. As the countdown to midnight began, champagne bottles popped, confetti filled the air, and everyone celebrated ringing in the New Year in style.

There’s something special about a New Year’s Eve wedding. It’s a celebration of both love and fresh beginnings. For Joel and MacKenzie, their day wasn’t just about starting a new chapter together; it was about sharing that moment with their favourite people, under the glittering lights of the city they love.

Photographing Joel and MacKenzie’s wedding was such an incredible way to close out the year. From the rooftop first look to the snow-kissed photos outside, every moment felt like it belonged in a film. It was edgy, glamorous, and unforgettable - just like them.
