There is something truly enchanting about a forest, and this engagement session in Elora captured the magic and fantasy of dense, vibrant greenery and the spirit of adventure. Elora's Victoria Park is such a fun place to explore together, as you weave through the trees, you can find little pockets of solace among the busy park. Follow the steps down into the gorge and you'll feel like you've stepped into a storybook, walking along the riverbed and through the steep paths. I love visiting this park in Elora and thought it would be the perfect place for Shelby and Josh, who wanted a whimsical fantasy-inspired engagement session.
Between their love of reading, games and movies, Shelby and Josh wanted a dreamy, whimsical vibe to their engagement session. They wanted to remember this time "where we are independent and youthful and how nice it is just to be with one another." Shelby and Josh had to be apart during quarantine, so they wanted to find the joy in their lives together. A true romantasy!
When we started chatting about where to take their photos, they wanted something romantic, peaceful and whimsical where they could feel like they were living their Shire dreams. Elora just made perfect sense.
Moody Greens of the Elora Gorge
Shelby wore a forest green dress that flowed with her body and Josh channelled his inner Hobbit and chose a deep green vest over a white shirt and brown slacks. Having the Elora forest as a backdrop offered so much texture and mood. The soft greens and filtered light made it feel cinematic and otherworldly. There was no pressure to perform or pose; throughout the session, we wanted genuine moments of connection and unscripted pauses to appreciate beauty. Of course, like with all my sessions, there are small prompts or encouragement from me, but without overly stylized posing and direction, you are allowed to be just you two, engaging naturally together. And this makes for the BEST photos.
Shelby and Josh, thank you for trusting me to tell this part of your story! It was clear through my lens, from the way that you held each other, to the way that you laughed together, that you two are a perfect pair. I love capturing truly authentic couples and I am so happy that the world gave you each other (and that I was lucky enough to document it!)
