When Holly and Dan first reached out, they weren’t sure if they wanted to do an engagement session. They loved the idea of wedding photos but weren’t sure if an extra session was necessary. But after an evening at Glen Oro Farms, mixing up cocktails, playing their favourite game (crokinole, of course), and wandering beneath the glowing domes, they left with no regrets and some of their favourite photos ever.
Engagement sessions aren’t just about pretty pictures. They’re about stepping away from the wedding planning chaos, celebrating this fleeting season of your love story, and, most importantly, getting comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. So many couples tell me they’re “awkward” or “not photogenic,” but the truth is, you just need a little space to relax, be yourselves, and let the moments unfold naturally. And that’s exactly what happened here.
We kicked off the session playing outside in the snow, then came back in to make up some cocktails together, letting them shake and stir together while laughing over inside jokes. We moved to a cozy corner near the fire to play crokinole, a game that’s been a staple in their relationship since the early days.
It’s important that an engagement or couples session reflects you both. These photos will be a little slice of life for you both to look back on for years to come. I want you to feel your best, your most authentic self, during the session, so that when you do look back on this time, you do so with nostalgia and love.

Engagement Session at Glen Oro
Glen Oro is a great place for an engagement session. The stargazing domes make for a great setting. For Holly and Dan, they love to explore new places and be outside. Glen Oro felt like the perfect spot to make a date out of the engagement photo session experience.
Then I had them dance together in the fading light, which made for the dreamiest end to the session. By the time we wrapped up, they were sold on the experience. If you’re on the fence about engagement photos, just do it. You’ll never regret having more memories captured.

3 reasons why you should absolutely do an engagement session
For the more camera-shy couples, an engagement session might feel like something you want to avoid - like why would you want to spend more time in front of the camera!?
But trust me, an engagement session is 100% worth doing especially if you're camera-shy!
Here are three reasons why:
- It's a great way to get to know your photographer before your wedding day! Engagement sessions are a great trial run for your wedding when it comes to working with your photographer, and we get to know you too! It also helps to work out the nerves of being photographed for the first time before your wedding day.
- It's a fun, stress-free time. That's right, we're going to get playful and have the best time just doing things that feel natural to you, whether that's going for a hike, playing board games, or perusing your favourite bookstore. We can make this session reflect who you are as a couple.
- Capture these precious moments. It's insane how quickly time flies and lives change and grow. Take this moment to capture you and your partner's life as it is right now. So when you look back on this time, you'll have some amazing photos reflecting your love for each other.
