An intimate cottage wedding in Haliburton
Jillian and Sam’s love story stretches all the way across the globe and landed exactly where it was meant to, in the heart of Ontario’s cottage country. Though they met and built their life together in Australia, Jillian, being from Canada, and Sam, originally from Australia, knew they wanted their wedding day to feel like home. So they gathered their closest people and planned the sweetest little elopement in Haliburton.
They found a cozy cottage that could comfortably hold everyone they love most (parents, grandparents, and best friends), and it instantly felt more like a family weekend than a traditional wedding day. Mother Nature decided to add her own touch with a rainy fall forecast, but honestly, it could not have been more perfect. The colours were rich and glowing, the air felt fresh, and the rushing water of the nearby Egan Chutes was mesmerizing.
Jillian and Sam both got ready separately in the cottage, laughter floating through the rooms, before they went outside for a first look in the fall colours. Then everyone headed down to the water’s edge for their ceremony. The rain held off just long enough and returned immediately after they said, “I do.” Talk about perfect timing! Following the ceremony, we took family photos on the porch before we piled into the car together and headed to Egan Chutes Provincial Park.
There, surrounded by iconic Canadian Shield rock and rushing water, we captured photos that felt wild and true to them. It was a mini elopement, intimate and intentional, and it was absolutely perfect.
