What can an elopement look like?

Honestly, anything you want. As long as you have an officiant and a license, everything else is up to you. That's what I loved so much about this VW Bus elopement in Port Elgin. It was rainy, wet and cold, but this beautiful styled elopement was stunning. And let me tell you, I'm obsessed with the custom vow books.

You've chosen to elope! Now what?!

The meaning of eloping has changed so much in the past few years. No longer does it mean to run away and marry in secret. Today, eloping can be anything you want it to be outside the “traditional wedding” sense. At the heart of it, eloping still means “escape.” You and your partner are escaping from traditions, from society obligations, from pomp and circumstance. It’s adventurous and sometimes spontaneous. Eloping means bringing the focus back on you and your partner, so, at the end of the day, you are celebrating the love you share.

So how do you make that happen?

Start with visioning what your perfect day would look like to you, without any restriction or pressure. How do you see yourself saying "Forever and always" to your partner? Start by making a list of all the things that you'd want your elopement to include and build from there.

And if you ever need help figuring out what you want your elopement to look like, I can help! All my couples get an Elopement Guide that walks you through common questions and gives you a glimpse into what elopements are like from a photography perspective.
